L'Orignal-Longueuil Heritage

History
Established since 2005, Patrimoine L’Orignal-Longueuil Heritage (PLLH) is a not-for-profit organization. Any gains or benefits are used solely to promote heritage activities and projects. Its mission is to recognize, preserve and promote, the historic, cultural and natural heritage assets of the Village of L’Orignal and the rural region of Longueuil, once known as the Seigneurie de Pointe-à-L’Orignac. Both target areas are now part of Champlain Township.
Quite a few projects have been realised since 2005 to preserve the heritage of one of the oldest village in Eastern Ontario
· Research project on WW2 veterans
· Inventory and preservation of the antique liturgical vestments of St-Jean-Baptiste parish
· Acquisition of historical documents and artifacts belonging to the Treadwell family
· Development of a walking tour of historic houses in L’Orignal
· Contribution to the televised series La petite séduction
· Lecture on a variety of topics
· Acquisition of a non-published manuscript on the history of L’Orignal
· Historical exhibits in partnership with L’Orignal Old Jail
· Wine and cheese and Christmas Market as annual fundraising
· Conception of L’Orignal-Longueuil tote bag
· Conception and quilting of a heritage quilt
· Writing and publishing of L’Orignal-Longueuil Through the Years, a commemorative book
· Conception and landscaping of a heritage corner at King and Bay in partnership with Champlain Township
· Members participate in many televised events
· Historical research on the locality
· Digitalization of the archives
