Roland Rochon

1913-1966

Born in Saint-Augustin, QC, August 9, 1913, Roland Rochon was the son of Albert Rochon and Donalda Paquette. The family moved to Hawkesbury when Roland was 6 years old.

Around the age of 19, the young man was employed at the cartridge factory in Brownsburg, QC. Then, on June 4, 1940, at age 27, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and joined the Canadian Auxiliary Services Division. He remained with Auxiliary Services until being decommissioned December 8, 1945. While in the Army, Roland had been stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Upon returning to civilian life, he met Gertrude Parisien of Alfred in 1947, whom he married in 1951. The couple had three children: Réjeanne, Mireille and Michel.

Roland Rochon passed away on June 9, 1996.
