Lanthier House
Description
The history of this grey stone house, one of the oldest in Longueuil Township, goes back to the beginnings of the seigniory. On September 14, 1808, Nathaniel H. Treadwell sold this property to A. Ketchum. On the third bill of sale (1827), it is mentioned that there was a house and buildings on the property. Over the next 40 years, there were different owners until March, 1869, when the sales contract listed a stone house, stables and other buildings. On September 28, 1907, Damase and Modeste Lanthier acquired this 108-acre property. On April 21, 1913, Damase sold his part to Modeste and the property remained in the Lanthier family with Noé Lanthier (1912-1984) and his wife Annette Bissonnette (1921-2011), who lived there until 1984.
Since then, the property has been divided into several lots and the house itself is the subject of future restoration projects. It is to Noé Lanthier and his wife Annette that we owe the fame of Village Lanthier.
