The Georges Séguin Restaurant
Description
This house, built around 1910, was the site of a multi-functional business from 1947 to 1967: a restaurant, convenience store, billiard room, hair salon, and cab service with Cécile Pagé (daughter of Alphonse Pagé and Emma Brasseur) and Henri-Georges Séguin (son of Aldège and Adèle Séguin).
The storefront windows featured children's toys, jewelry, lighters, wristwatches, etc. From Simpson or Eaton's catalogues, you could even order hockey equipment, CCM skates, bicycle spokes, etc.
On boxing nights, seniors often gathered in front of the 27-inch black & white TV placed on a reasonably high shelf. The pool table attracted many customers at the back of the restaurant, in a small room lit by windows.
Although the house's exterior has been significantly modified, some old memories still linger within its walls.
