Land Registry Office
Description
Built in 1874 on land sold by John W. Marston, this building served as the registry office administered by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell until 1969. It then became the responsibility of the Province of Ontario until 1981, remaining at the same location. A vault ensured the security of registered documents, such as property titles. The registry office was later moved to the basement of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell building, and eventually relocated to Hawkesbury. Today, after renovations, the building houses the Provincial Offences Court.
