Omer Lalonde House
Description
Auguste Labelle is known to have built several houses in the village of L'Orignal. This one, dating from 1893, made of wood and roofed with tin, still displays its original verandah.
Laurent Duchesne, a blacksmith who was also a cantor for the parish, settled there with his family in 1901. The other owners have been Euclide Leblanc, blacksmith (1909), Edmond Charbonneau (1928), and Omer Lalonde (1935). Mr. Lalonde was one of the owners of the old sawmill located on the banks of Mill Creek. The mill was destroyed by fire in 1992.
