Built by John W. Higginson in 1860, this elegant stone house is inspired by Scottish architecture, including arches, Gothic gables and three-section windows.
It served as a home for the Presbyterian and later United Church ministers until 1958. The manse was then sold to Lewis O’Brian (1958), followed by Jay and Mignonne Walsh (1973), Mr. and Mrs. Reginald F. G. Ashby (1980), Stephen R. March (1982), and Dr. Violaine Tittley and Robert March, the current owners (2020).
In 1983, the municipality of L’Orignal recognized the architectural and historical value of the residence because changes made over the years had not changed its style. The interior remains true to its heritage: the wooden floors, the staircase facing the front door and the beautiful moldings still contribute to the elegance of this old home.
